Organization Management
- Elentra allows administrative staff to create multiple schools or organizational units within a single Elentra instance each that have their own courses, objectives, etc.
- Users (administrative staff, instructors, and learners) can be assigned to one or more of these organizations giving them the ability to access the information they require without having to log into a separate application.
Course / Program Management
- Administrative staff have the ability to create and manage courses from within Elentra.
- Each course can reference a configured Curriculum Type or Academic Level (i.e. Semester 1, Term 5, Block 3, Phase 2A) and can be openly accessible by any logged in user, or locked down and only available to learners enrolled in the course.
- Administrative staff can define various permission levels for a course (i.e. Course Director, Curricular Coordinator, Program Coordinator, etc.), which grants these individuals the appropriate rights and permissions for the course.
Learning Event Management
- At the core of Elentra is the ability to manage and schedule all of the different types of learning that occur within a complex curriculum.
- Learning Events are the common denominator in the Elentra platform. A Learning Event is defined as any scheduled academic learning opportunity that can be broken down by type-of-learning (i.e. lecture, small group, patient contact session, etc.), and is targeted toward one or more learners.
- Learning Events can be imported en-masse or individually created in the Elentra interface, and are referenced by all users (instructors, learners, and administrative staff) to find out who should be where and when.
- Resources used to frame and instruct in these Learning Events (i.e. objectives, slides, notes, quizzes, podcasts, links, learning modules, etc.) are then attached to the event so that users can easily determine where the content fits into the curriculum. This entire process happens outside of any course website at a higher level.
Attendance Tracking
- Attendance tracking within Elentra can be done in two ways. The first of which is to put Elentra into kiosk mode allowing learners to swipe their identification as they enter the learning event and therefore marking them as having attended. The second type of attendance tracking is a more manual based process whereby the designated instructors (generally at a director level) as well as administrative staff can mark learners as having attended the learning event.
iCalendar (ICS) Calendar Feeds
- Elentra is all about pushing information directly to the learner, not having the learner jump from course website to course website to access all of their courses and learning material.
- Elentra provides various methods for instructors and learners to access their academic schedule, one of these ways is through an industry standard calendar feed that can be synchronized with Google Calendar, Apple iCal, Microsoft Exchange / Outlook, and more. Users will automatically receive the current schedule in the event of class changes or cancellations.
Class List and Cohort Management
- Elentra has the ability to automatically synchronize class lists and entire cohorts with Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP), an industry standard directory communication service. This includes automatic internal account and permission provisioning as well as automatic removal in the event of a course drop.
- These class lists or cohorts can be attached to Curriculum Type (Academic Level) time periods so that learners are able to access the appropriate resources when they are supposed to.
